Kangaroo Partnership Project

Exploring shared solutions to a complex land management and animal welfare issue

I coordinated the Kangaroo Partnership Project with the South Australian Arid Lands Landscape Board and Sevenseas Creative from June 2022 to December 2023.

The project aimed to gather key stakeholders together to explore and trial shared solutions to the complex issue of kangaroo management.

Through the program I facilitated a grant program aiming to support trials and demonstrations, research and development, education and awareness raising, and innovative ideas associated with improving outcomes in kangaroo management.

The project committee awarded funding to three projects:

  • Increasing kangaroo value through quality, product diversity, reliability and branding, led by Australian Wildlife Services.
  • South Australian Rangelands Kangaroo Collective Pilot, led by land manager Kate Greenfield (South Gap Station) and collaborators.
  • Kangaroo management raising awareness, led by the Nature Conservation Society of South Australia.

You can see the final report I collated based on the outcomes of the three projects and the learnings myself and the project committee gained over the course of the program here, and further information and resources on the ongoing program here.
